Malham Cove is a gigantic curving amphitheatre-shaped cliff formation made from limestone. Thousands of visitors head to Malham Cove every year, which overlooks the village of Malham. Malham Cove is open all year round and has a good footpath that leads you from the road to the foot of the cove. If you want to take in stunning scenery and views like no other, a trip to Malham Cove is a must.
Ingleton Waterfalls Trail
The Ingleton Waterfalls Trail follows a well-defined footpath that runs close to the edge of both rivers to provide glorious views of the waterfalls. To get the most out of your visit, it’s advised to wear suitable footwear. As there are many steps along the trail, this isn’t a suitable activity for pushchairs or wheelchairs. The trail is easy to follow, well signposted, and normally takes between 3 and 4 hours to walk.
Hesketh Farm Park
If you’re visiting the Yorkshire Dales on a family staycation, you must take a visit to Hesketh Farm Park. This is a working farm that houses over 1,000 livestock, including pigs, sheep, and cattle. There is also a straw maze and play area at the farm. If your children want to get up close and personal with the animals, there is an opportunity to stroke and feed the livestock too. Make sure to check out opening times beforehand to avoid disappointment.
Heritage Railway
When in the Yorkshire Dales, to really understand the area and take in the sights, a journey on a steam locomotive is a must. You can admire the scenery as you embark through the Dales. There are several heritage railway lines to pick from, such as the Stainmore Railway, the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway, as well as the Wensleydale Railway.
